News

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC)- Help out Marine wives in the Lowcountry.

Donate a gently used gown for the annual Marine Corps Ball in Beaufort. The annual ball celebrates the service's birthday. A group of women on Hilton Head Island are trying to help by collecting gently used gowns.

"In talking to people, I found out that they really didn't know that there is a way to help our marine corps wives by donating their gowns and getting them over to MCAS," said Maria Skrip of Remax, who is collecting gowns.

Gown donations are also being accepted at Four Winds (843.228.1662) MCFTB MCAS in the MCX Plaza (843.228.7311) and the Parris Island Thrift Shop.

All sizes are needed; dresses should be clean and on a hanger; jewelry and evening bags are appreciated.

Operation Ball Gown 2012 takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 6 at the MCAS Officers' Club

Folks can drop off donations from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Remax Island Realty office on Bay St. in Beaufort, and on Wednesday and Thursday at Remax offices throughout Beaufort County. They hope to collect up to 50 gowns.
