PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC)- A new police chief is taking the reins in the Lowcountry.
After 25 years with the Port Royal Police Department, Alan Beach is now the chief of police. Over the years, Beach has worked his way up the ranks and took over as the interim chief in February after long-time chief James Cadien passed away. Beach says he's trying to carry on Cadien's legacy of community involvement.
"Trying to improve some of the community relations," said Beach. "We've got a couple of specialty teams we launched last year. We need to get them more involved in the community. We've been doing a good job and we'll continue to do it to serve the citizens."
Beach says he has an excellent staff and is looking forward to serving the citizens of Port Royal.
