BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - In 2012, Officer Marvin Tabb-Walker has made 23 DUI arrests and fought against impaired driving on Beaufort highways.

Possible prank involving missing yard statues in Beaufort County

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - Are you missing a yard statute or gnome? The Beaufort Police Department posted a photo by “Eat Sleep Play Beaufort” on their Facebook page of an apparent prank. The yard statues and garden gnomes appeared in the courtyard of The Upper Crust restaurant and may be missing from homes on Lady’s Island, athough they are unsure exactly how they got there.

Beaufort Co. sheriff proposes ordinance to crack down on crime

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC)- With crime a big concern in the lowcountry, Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner is cracking down.

Sheriff Tanner is planning to propose an ordinance in Beaufort County that would require businesses with liquor licenses to close their doors at 2 a.m. The ordinance would also shut down businesses that have become a crime haven. Tanner says he wants to implement a similar ordinance already in place on Hilton Head Island, where the county could revoke business licenses for those businesses where crimes keep occurring.

St. Helena crime meeting set for July 25

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC)- Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner has called for a community meeting on St. Helena Island to discuss crime.

Tanner says they've been having problems with crime on St. Helena for the past year and half. In fact, just in the last 8 months there have been 4 murders. He's reaching out to the community for help.

ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC (WTOC)- The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office invites residents to
discuss St. Helena Island crime at an upcoming forum.

Sheriff PJ Tanner will be holding in reference to crime
occurring on St. Helena Island.

Residents can ask questions and direct comments to the sheriff.
They will also get details on outlining goals aimed at continued safety on St.
Helena.

The
meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. at St. Helena Elementary School at 1025
Sea Island Pkwy.
