BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC)- After two long years of construction in the Lowcountry, a third lane along Highway 278 is about to open up.
After Nov. 15, traveling between Highway 170 down to Simmonsville Road will get a little bit easier for drivers.
Orange cones can be found all along a stretch of five miles of Highway 278.
In less than two weeks, they'll start disappearing for a third lane of traffic available to drivers.
DOT workers still need to pave both sides of the Okatie River bridge and add shoulder lanes.
